When brainstorming the name of our project we were interested in providing a space for writers that feel voiceless with an aesthetic for beauty in temporary existence.
Saturniidae (sah-tur-NEE-ih-dee), the scientific name for the royal moth family, are both large and beautiful, but are most well known for dying after only a week long adult life span due to starvation. A starvation caused by not having a mouth.
The saturniidae’s short life caused by their missing mouth captures the aesthetic of our publication to find beauty in the temporary and provide a mouth to those who are starving to share the passion of their own temporary existence.
In short, we want to make something out of nothing.
